Bowlly Radio
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
The music of the 1930s, when the melodies were magic, the lyrics were sophisticated, and the age of the crooner had arrived. And the best crooner of them all was Al Bowlly. If you love the music of the golden age of song, you'll love this app.
When Al Bowlly was killed by a German Land Mine in London in 1941, he left behind a precious musical heritage of over 1000 78 RPM discs. This app contains programs which include many of those discs. Andy Baxter, a long-time collector of Bowlly 78s, presents three one-hour programs, plus a separate shorter program for each of the 15 years of Bowlly's short but productive recording career.
Also included are the two short films of Bowlly singing on screen - the only visual record of his crooning artistry - courtesy of British Pathe.
The App is a wonderful resource for anyone who remembers and loves the music of this consumate entertainer, as well as those who love the music of the popular song golden age - the 1930s.
