Fartlek, which means "speed play" in Swedish, is a form of interval training that uses the body's energy systems at different intensities and time periods. The difference between this type of training and continuous training is that the speed (or pace) and time periods varies and alternates frequently, in a random or predetermined (structured) form. This puts the aerobic and anaerobic energy systems under acyclic stress, better mimicking one's sports specific energy demands. Thus, allowing the user to train during one drill in all four primary training zones.

The FartlekDrill App can be used in a random or structured form. In the random form, the App selects the intensities (paces) and time periods in a random manner based on the user selected sport and fitness or difficulty level. In this mode, it closely resembles running with a trainer, who decides and instructs when to change the pace level.

In the structured mode, the user selects the intensities for each stage, as well as the time periods. Also, in this mode, the App can be made to select the time periods based on the user's selected sport and fitness or difficulty level.

The App includes a "Quick Coach" for easy selection of drill parameters based on the user's fitness or difficulty level.

Also, using the "Utilities" function, you can register as a member to our website, free of any membership fees, and have access to several useful resources.
