This tool provides a method of proportioning a concrete mixture using the absolute volume method in substantial conformance with ACI 211.1-91, “Standard Practice for Selecting Proportions for Normal, Heavyweight and Mass Concrete.” The concrete mixture proportions provided by this tool represent a first approximation; trial batches are necessary to confirm the properties of any mixture designed using this tool. As trial batches are made, a number of quality and performance tests should be performed on the concrete, as directed by ASTM C192, “Standard Practice for Making and Curing Concrete Test Specimens in the Laboratory,” along with strength testing.
