Impulse (Study version)
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
PLEASE NOTE! This is a version of Impulse designed for use in the EdGE Leveling Up study of 2013-2014 and is only accessible to people enrolled in the study. If you are not in the study, please download our game called Impulse.
Embedded in a sea of enemy particles, players must avoid collisions as they
propel their own particle to the goal. New levels bring new challenges and
new forces to contend with. Players have to budget their energy use as they
grapple with gravity, electric forces, and the effects of Newton's laws of
motion.
Hint: Be Patient, don't get click happy. Click on one side of the green
particle to create an explosion which propels it in the opposite direction
towards the goal. Closer you click the faster it goes.
EdGE — On the edge of science and play! The Educational Gaming Environments group (EdGE) at TERC hopes to show that learning happens in all kinds of places by investigating the possibilities—and challenging the assumptions—of game-based learning environments. EdGE is designing and studying games whose mechanics mirror real scientific phenomena, but more importantly, are fun to play.
GameGurus — An educational and serious game development studio that develops across PC, online, and mobile platforms, with the clear purpose of challenging players intellectually while providing fun game mechanics and great game play. GameGurus works with EdGE to create compelling educational storylines and to design the captivating virtual environments where those storylines play out.
