Beacon for Apple is a personal tracking application that allows Users to broadcast their position on the fly with a random-generated temporary password, which they pass on to those they wish to be able to follow their position. The position is then known as a ‘Beacon’ and the password as a ‘Beacon PIN.’ Active Beacons are time limited and when they expire, no one can track them and the temporary Beacon PIN is discarded. Users can also manually set up a fixed position as a Beacon, ideal for guiding others to a location or venue. Users can also purchase customized Beacon Pins which can be used on a repeated basis. With the judicious use of beacon PINS, the need for assigning complicated permissions for tracking is eliminated
