myHandle
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
MyHandle.com
This application means you can stay in touch with your contacts even if their phone numbers and email addresses change. It also means that however many phone numbers and email addresses you have, and however often these details change, you only ever need give out one contact detail to anyone : your Handle.
Get a Handle (eg the Handle “JohnSmith” would be JohnSmith@myhandle.com) and invite your contacts to get a Handle too, at myHandle.com . This is your single point of contact and will never change. You set up your account so that emails and phone calls go where you tell them to. So if your phone number or email address (or addresses) change, you don’t need to notify anyone at all, and they don’t have to update their records.
If you like, you can set multiple phone numbers and multiple email addresses that you want to be contacted at – but the people contacting you will all do so via your Handle, and so that’s all you need to give out to them. This is particularly useful for people who travel a lot and have multiple phone numbers and email addresses.
How it works: There are two main areas of functionality.
Email
Set up a Handle, say our example of JohnSmith@myhandle.com . This is what you give out to people instead of a normal email address. On your myHandle page decide where you want to pick up your mail – for example you might wish to pick up your emails from friends at a Gmail address, and work emails at Hotmail, and family mail at a third address, or at all three. It’s up to you. Put your contacts into groups (Friends, Family etc) and attach the email address you want to pick the mail up to that group. So, everyone is contacting you via your Handle, but where it all ends up is all down to you. If you changed all your email addresses you would never have to notify anyone – they contact you via your Handle as normal.
Phone
Just as with the email system, decide which numbers you wish your contacts to reach you at via the myHandle application. Say you want your friends to reach you at a domestic mobile, and your business contacts at a landline., then attach the appropriate phone number to each group and it’s done. If you then go to another country for a month and take on a new phone number, you simply change the numbers attached to these groups and your new number will ring instead, without you ever having to inform anyone of the change. When you get back, simply change the numbers back on your myHandle page, and it’s done.
So, you can be a name, and not a number, and never again be concerned with changing contact details. Watch out for next forthcoming developments!
