Special Stories
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
Special Stories makes it easy to create your own stories, containing text, pictures and sound. You can read and listen to your stories, print them to any AirPrint-enabled printer, and share them with friends and family.
BridgingApps said: “The interface is clean and user-friendly ... there are a number of other special features that make this app stand out from others in its category”.
You can use Special Stories in many ways, including:
• Making photo albums about vacations, trips, and other events
• Improving reading skills
• Encouraging development of spoken language skills
• Creating talking books
• Helping with social skills
• Explaining step-by-step tasks
• Practising foreign language skills
• Sharing information between home and school
• Sharing news with distant family and friends
You can create as many stories as you wish, and update them again later. Each story can have any number of pages, and each page can have any or all of: a photo (or any other image), up to 30 seconds of sound you record, and several lines of text. A choice of large and small text sizes, in an easy to read font, allows for either single words and short phrases or longer sentences.
Special Stories has a simple and uncluttered interface for reading and listening to stories, making it suitable for use by children and adults with ASD, Down syndrome, poor fine motor skills, hearing impairment and other learning difficulties. A range of settings allows you to configure the app and adjust as your child develops. For those who are unable to use a touch screen, but who can operate assistive switches, the app can be used with 1 or 2 Bluetooth-connected switches.
The easy to use facilities for creating and updating stories are explained in the included Quick Start Guide. The user interface and Quick Start Guide are provided in English, Catalan, Croatian, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish and Turkish, but the app can be used to create stories in any language. A detailed User Guide is available on our website at www.specialiapps.com.
This is a universal app for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, and you can easily transfer stories between your devices, using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or e-mail, and open them in iBooks or in our Special Words app.
We cannot reply to app reviews, but we answer every email, and are always happy to respond to questions and suggestions at support@specialiapps.com
