The Popcorn Gallery is a mobile application that is trying to bring meaningful social interaction to on-demand video content. Currently, there is not a great solution to commenting and interacting with people on video that is played asynchronously. People are able to leave comments on twitter and facebook, but those comments have no relevance to most the people that read them, and they lack specific context for those that have watched the film. The Popcorn Gallery will record people’s comments and replay those in a simulated live social experience for the video you want to watch, when you want to watch it.
