3a Othello Free
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
Othello(also called Reversi) is a two-person game played on an 8x8 checker board (same board as used for chess). Playing pieces resemble plastic coins or disks. One side of each piece is black and the other white.
Players take turns placing playing pieces on the board until the board is full or players can't make a valid move. Players capture opponent pieces by trapping them between their own pieces. The player with the most pieces at the end of the game wins.
The object is to finish the game with more pieces turned to your color than your opponent.
On your turn, place one piece on the board with your color facing up. You must place the piece in such a way that one or more opponent pieces are trapped (sandwiched) between two of your pieces. You then turn over all of the opponent pieces trapped in the row between your pieces so they become your color. This is called "capturing" your opponent's pieces. You can capture rows diagonally, horizontally or vertically. You may capture more than one row of pieces at the same time.If you do not have a legal move, you must pass your turn. The game ends when all squares are filled in or when neither player has a legal move. The player who has the most pieces turned to their color at the end of the game is the winner.
A key to winning at Othello is the ability to look ahead several moves and try to position your pieces to capture the corners.
