3M Marker Mapper is a complimentary application to be used with the 3M Underground Tracking System. The system provides GPS based mapping of assets marked underground using the 3M RFID marker technology. Details related to the underground assets are tracked in a hosted web based system. Location and details can be retrieved either through a web interface or specialized mobile device based applications. The 3M Marker Mapper application is intended for the person on the ground locating or marking an underground asset. The mobile application will display only those underground assets located near the current position of the device running the application. The user is provided a prompt based interface to describe and identify underground assets using words and pictures to complement the identification and later location of the underground asset. The data gathered on the device is then sent to and stored within a hosted service.
