Beautiful Stations -Rural Train Stations in Japan-
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
Japan moves via railways, on a busy network of main lines and busy local lines. This application includes 76 artworks, photographed at 16 different locations, by photographer Yuya Yamasaki, who photographs of rail stations throughout Japan. This portfolio is based on local, community-based train stations that exist as a major part of people’s quotidien lives – not simply photos of the station buildings – from Yamasaki’s seasoned point of view. Each location works in concert with GoogleMaps and can be accessed via iPad.
Yuya Yamsaki was born in 1970 in Hiroshima, and graduated from Nihon University’s College of Art’s photography department. After joining Mashima Mitsuhide photo office, he established Railman Photo Office with Seiya Nakai. He is the author of ‘The Illustrated Easy Railway Photography’ (JTB Publishing), ‘Night Railway’ (Ei Shuppannsha), ‘How I Became a Railway Photographer (Klasse Books) and other volumes. He offers a number of railway photography courses, as well as an instructional video, ‘How to take railway photos’, which can be seen on YouTube.
