P.G. Wodehouse (1881-1975) was a prolific master of social satire. Best known for his Jeeves stories, which chronicle the misadventures of a flighty gentleman and his levelheaded valet, Wodehouse’s comic portrayals of English upper class society have enjoyed enduring popularity with a large and devoted audience. Shortly before his death at the age of 93, he was made a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
