Coin Album is your virtual coin collection. If you enjoy collecting rare and not so rare coins, then this App will catalogue your virtual collection. You can also email and print your coins. A built in basic browser with recommended websites is included to start you off.

Why "virtual"?
I had the usual childhood coin collection when I was growing up in Australia - a shoe box with a hand full of coins given to me by family friends who had gone on overseas trips. Later, my collection improved thanks to books on coin collecting borrowed from the library and a proper coin album with plastic pockets given to me as a birthday present. I found out that coin collectors were called "numismatist's" - a word I could hardly pronounce at that time.

With my limited financial means, the coins I saw in my borrowed books were totally out of my reach, and even if the tooth fairy had left been kind enough to leave a lot money under my pillow, they were not available in the one coin shop in Brisbane.

Today, many coin shops advertise their stock on the internet and buying coins from anywhere in the world is a cinch. Hard and not so hard to get coins have been expertly photographed or scanned along with their details displayed on various web sites. It's easy to copy these images and save them for your own view pleasure. You might not own the real thing, but you will have the next best thing at no cost!

Recommended Uses
This app is not intended for the serious Numismatist. It's mainly for the casual or young collector who appreciates learning about and looking at coins and building an overall view of an era or country, by examining their coinage.

It's great for kids who have taken an interest in pursuing coin collecting as a hobby because it costs nothing to build a personal collection. Later, they might be interested in collecting the real thing!

There are two "adult" uses for Coin Album. I use the app to carry a database of coins I want to buy and when I find a new seller on the internet, I email the coin to them and enquire if they have any items in stock.

Today, as an adult, I can afford and actually do own some valuable coins. I have these stored in my album and my virtual coins go wherever my iPhone goes; and I can enjoy looking at them anywhere knowing that the real coins are securely stored at home.

I hope you enjoy this application - from a programming point of view, it was a real challenge.
