The 2012 UN Climate Change Conference takes place in Qatar from November 26 to December 7. The event is the latest annual meeting of the 194 nations who are party to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The Doha round is the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC and the 8th Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol, and is referred to as COP18/CMP8. It is being attended by about 17,000 participants including 7,000 observers from civil society and more than 1,500 members of the media.
