Crew Chief
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
Tom E. Speed has decided he wants to be a racer, so he has bought himself a two year old Formula iRacer car. He is full of hope and enthusiasm. But he is no mechanic. In fact, he has no clue at all about race car setup. He hasn't even checked the tire pressures before climbing into the cockpit for a practice session. The results are sad.
Fortunately, you're at the race track with nothing to do. The driver you worked for last season has lost his need for speed. You have a big heart, and an empty wallet. Your business card says 'Have Tools, Will Travel.' Tom hires you on the spot.
Crew Chief 1.0 is a game that tests players’ mechanical aptitude and ability to set up a race car. The car is based upon a modern F2000 open-wheel, single-seat racer. Creation of the game involved research and interviews with championship winning crew chiefs and drivers. The chassis, aerodynamic, and gearing setups in the game were derived from this research. If you can successfully match the "expert" setups, then you and Tom will achieve a great result.
Your challenge is to get Tom to the front of the pack through one practice session, three qualifying sessions, and a race. After each session you can ask Tom questions about how the car performed, and also examine car data, such as tire temperatures and an RPM telltale. Based on this debrief, you will make setup changes to the car. On the Help page, the game has a journal of the driver debrief sessions and all adjustments made to the car. You will find yourself looking at this journal often as you play the game.
Be sure to read General Game Information and the Race Car Setup Tutorial, both accessed in the Help menu. There is also a help page providing details about our race car.
You will pick among 14 American, European, and Asian circuits. When you have achieved a good result, check to see how your time ranks among other game players, and post your result in the Winner’s Circle on the Lava Bay Interactive website: http://www.lavabayinteractive.com/crewchief/winnerscircle.aspx.
Additional screen shots can be seen on our Facebook album: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=45698&id=165297073497214
