Crittertastic Math
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
Critter-Tastic Math for the iPad features a series of deductive reasoning math puzzles originally developed for the classroom by a veteran teacher.
FEATURES: The game consists of 100 puzzles involving 5 levels of difficulty. Each puzzle uses 9 or 10 numbers and the math symbols for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, greater than, or less than. Players will enjoy 50 animated original characters in five unique settings. Each setting features original music composed especially for this game.
HOW TO PLAY: The object of the game is to determine which animated drawing represents each number. Using your finger, drag each number to its matching "critter." Each time you solve an equation correctly, any number from the correctly solved equation that appears in another equation will fill automatically. Two hints are available per puzzle if you get stuck. Once all equations are solved, the next puzzle is unlocked.
Stars are awarded based on how many hints you use. If you use no hints, then you get 3 stars. One hint gets you 2 stars. Two hints gets you 1 star. Just go to the menu to replay a level.
REPLAYABILITY: Each time you replay a level, the "critters" are shuffled, to make replayability more enjoyable.
EDUCATIONAL PURPOSE:
1) To stimulate thinking. Research suggests that older people need to continue to stimulate their thinking processes with activities such as Suduko, Crossword puzzles, Logic puzzles, Cryptograms, and many others. Critter-Tastic Math fits into this category nicely.
2) To reinforce basic math facts and develop "number sense" ( a familiarity with numbers and how they relate to each other). This is an educational purpose and as such Crittertastic Math can be a useful resource in school classrooms.
3) Recreational math. Critter-Tastic Math is fun and somewhat addictive. Once started, the game is hard to put down. You just want to keep solving the next puzzle.
