CroquetCaddy
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
CroquetCaddy is here to help you while you're playing golf croquet. It helps you keep track of the score and time in a game and can also randomly pick partners at the start of a game.
Ball colours:
Just before you start a game of Croquet, start CroquetCaddy and set the 'Ball Colours' selection to whichever set of balls you're using (blue/red/black/yellow or green/pink/brown/white). These ball colours will be used when scoring and in the partner chooser. You can change the colours at any stage in a game if you need to.
Partner chooser:
At my own club we often have this awkward moment when we have a group of four players ready to start a game but we don't want to be presumptuous over who will be who's partner. You can use the 'Partner Chooser' on the setup screen to help by choosing random partners. Invite the other players to stand around the iPhone, while you hold it out in front of you. Touch the 'Pick Partners' button and the balls will shuffle themselves for a few seconds before allocating each player a colour to play. If the choice doesn't suit, just touch 'Shuffle colours' to reshuffle until you have a satisfactory result.
Keeping score:
If you have an old game still running, touch the 'Reset Game' button to start a new one (CroquetCaddy will remind you to do this if it has been more than an hour since the last hoop was scored). Press 'Play' and you're set to keep score. When someone scores a hoop, just press the corresponding ball and the score will be updated.
While in this mode you can switch back and forth between the 'Hoops' (Wickets) view to check who scored which hoop, and at what time. If you make a mistake scoring the wrong coloured ball, you can delete the last scored hoop by selecting it in the Hoops view and then swiping the row to the left or right. A 'Delete' button will appear which you can press to delete that hoop scored.
CroquetCaddy doesn't tell you to when to stop playing croquet but you can use the timer on the 'Scoring' view to call a game to a close if you're playing limited time games.
