Application Description
Building a set of stairs is a project almost every Do It Yourselfer is faced with at some point. Hiring a contractor can cost thousands, but building a set of stairs can be very tricky with terms like overall riser, tread, riser and stringer many do it yourselfers struggle.
This is where DIYStairs come in.
Create a set of stairs for your deck, patio, entry or any other stair projects.
DIYStairs guides you through the entire process and even has a calculator to help with figuring out the step height.
The Process is simple:
Find Overall Height - Measure from the top of the deck to the ground.
Calculate Riser Height - Use the custom calcuator to determine how many step you need and the height of each step.
Layout First Stringer - Use framing square and stair gauges layout the stringer.
Cut it Out - Cut the first stringer out being careful to cut on the waste side of the line.
Test It -Do a test fit to see how it works.
Mark Other Stringers - Mark out the other stringers using the first as a template. Cut them out as your did with the first one.
Assembly - Attach 2x10 to the bottom and the top of each stringer.
Attach Stairs - Attach the stairs to the deck. Use the reference marks from your test fit to place stairs correctly.
Install Treads - Start at the bottom and work your way up to the top.
