Application Description
Dreams of Diamonds the magnificent Magnum Opus super book comes with its own exclusive presentation case and is a signed and numbered limited edition of 500, of which only 350 will be for sale. The book is 50 x 70 cms and opens to 1 meter x 70 cms.
The book has been exquisitely printed and bound to the highest standards in Germany by one of the finest teams of printers and binders in the world - Firmengruppe APPL and BELTZ Bad Langensalza in Co operation with Muller Buchbinderei GmbH .In the case of Muller, it is possibly the only binary in the world outside of China which has the capability of binding a book of this magnitude. It's director Robert Muller has a passionate belief in the arts of traditional book binding.
Dreams of Diamonds has been completely assembled and bound by hand. The cover is Chromo Silver Library Buckram, with the spine being bound in Skipper Blue Library Buckram. The front cover is blind de-bossed with the title Dreams of Diamonds which was exclusively designed for us by typographic artist and illustrated Si Scott. The spine is also blind de-bossed with the title.
The book opens with pearlised metallic end paper in navy blue. It is printed on Pro Silk 250 gsm paper, with a semi matt finish to give a luxurious silk feel and with 160 pages of stunning images and text it is a true work of art.
The presentation box for the book has been designed by Robert Muller himself to, emulate the feeling of the book. The lid is made from 3mm box card and covered with Silver Chromo Library Buckram and de-bossed with the special Dreams of Diamonds title. The base of the box is made from 3 mm box card and covered with Skipper Blue Library Buckram. Both the lid and the base have a full acid free lining for preservations purposes.
The approx; weight of each book in its own presentation box is 15 kg.
A personal letter from the creators of Dreams of Diamonds - Alastair Laidlaw and Christine Marsden - which has been approved by the printers and binders, detailing instructions for care and storage accompanies each book.
