epTools is a platform for health professionals specializing in heart rhythm disorders. Resources include algorithms commonly used to localize arrhythmia substrates, reference guides to assist in the identification of clinical conditions and guides to evaluate the use and safety of pharmacologic agents used in arrhythmia management. Algorithms are implemented via an intuitive user interface. These algorithms guide the user through a series of questions to arrive at an answer while providing a graphical visualization of their progress and result of their analysis.

Users may download original scientific reference material through popular sources and use the algorithms with reference examples located on our website (www.busy-being-born.com/examples) to practice arrhythmia localization techniques.

• Localization of accessory pathways: Two algorithms are provided (based on Arruda et al and Milstein et al) to assist in the localization of accessory pathways in patients presenting with patterns of manifest pre-excitation on 12-lead electrocardiograms.

• Localization of atrial tachycardias: Two algorithms are provided (based on Ellenbogen et al and Kistler et al) to assist in the localization of atrial tachycardias in patients presenting with atrial tachycardia on a 12-lead electrocardiogram.

• Localization of ischemic ventricular tachycardia: Two algorithms are provided (based on Miller et al and Segal et al) to assist in the localization of exit sites for ventricular tachycardia in the setting of single and multiple myocardial infarction based on findings on 12- lead electrocardiograms during ventricular tachycardia.

• Localization of idiopathic ventricular tachycardia and premature ventricular contractions: Two algorithms are provided (based on Ito et al and Betensky et al) to assist in the localization of outflow tract ventricular ectopic activity and tachycardia.

• Localize endocardial versus epicardial VT through calculation of the maximum deflection index.

• QT Prolonging Drug Reference: Drugs that prolong the QT interval may lead to dangerous arrhythmias in susceptible patients. Drugs may be searched by generic or brand name to identify those known to prolong the QT interval on the electrocardiogram.

• Disease Assessment: Tools are provided to assist in the assessment of Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia/Cardiomyopathy (ARVD/C) and Short QT Syndrome.

• Differentiation of SVT from VT: Using the Brugada and Verckei et al algorithms users may use features noted on 12-lead electrocardiogram to differentiate between arrhythmias caused by supraventricular (SVT) and ventricular (VT) arrhythmias.

• Save path to image feature: Allows user to save an image of the current decision path in appropriate algorithms. Use these images, which appear in the photo album, to communicate your findings with colleagues.
