FoAK's Community of Autism and Special Needs
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
We are the Friends of Amazing Kids
Founded in 2008 by Kelly Pascoe, Jenna Hall, Angela Brown, and Steven Brown in Hanover, Pennsylvania. The original purpose of FoAK was to raise money for the Amazing Kids Club a subgroup of the Adams-Hanover Counseling Services, Inc. With decreased funding from government for services, FoAK has expanded its mission to provide support to families living with autism and other special needs. Money does not go directly to families, but does go to organizations providing services to persons living with autism. FoAK also provides families opportunities to socialize and participate in community activities.
For four years, we have been reaching out to the community of Hanover and Southcentral Pennsylvania. With changes to the definition of autism spectrum disorders, decreased funding, FoAK is a central advocate for families. We foresee our children as productive individuals in the community.
Today, we have helped over 250 children living with autism in our community. The need continues to grow in our community and across the United States. With approximately 1% of the population having autism the need continues to grow.
To help those in need, our friends and families, we rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of individuals like you to volunteer, attend, and donate during our events and general donations throughout the year.
