HamPal is an App designed for all Radio Amateurs and Short-Wave Listeners. It is a suite of utilities designed to help you in your Ham Radio activities. It uses the capabilities of your iOS device for the following:

Find your QRA Locator. This 6-digit locator is used by hams around the world to give an accurate indication of their location. Also known as a Maidenhead Locator (after the town in England), this system is based on latitude and longitude. The App automatically determines your location and then determines the corresponding QRA Locator.

Bearing and distance. The App can be used to calculate the Great Circle bearing and distance between your location and any DX location you specify. A handy compass is included to help you line your beam up on the DX - especially useful in the field.

Mast Alignment. Use the in-built sensors of your device to help get your mast vertical. More than a spirit level, this App will help you align the whole mast, no matter how high.

International Beacon Project. International Beacons transmit on precise frequencies on a strict schedule and are an invaluable aid to understanding HF propagation, helping you to work on the optimum band. The App tracks the beacon cycles and shows Great Circle bearing and distance as well as the frequency and location of the beacon. Beacons on the 20m, 17m, 15m, 12m and 10m band are available.
