HOTV Acuity
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
"HOTV ACUITY" is a unique interactive chart to measure visual acuity in ILLITERATE people and PRESCHOOL children! CHECK ALSO THE ADVANCED VERSIONS "FAST ACUITY" or "VISUAL ACUITY"!
(IMPORTANT NOTICE: this app has been calibrated for the iPhone and iPod touch ONLY and is NOT appropriate for the iPad because of the different display resolutions. For an iPad specific solution, check out "FAST ACUITY XL")
To get the best results with "HOTV ACUITY", make sure to follow these simple steps:
1) set precisely the viewing distance to the subject using the bottom slider,
2) adjust the vertical slider to select an acuity range so the subject can easily see the top line but cannot for the bottom line (press the + and - buttons for a finer control),
3) tap the smallest line the subject can fully read.
Et voila! The visual acuity is reported with some useful comments (Tip: tap the acuity line above the chart to produce a new random chart).
NOTE that, contrarily to other acuity charts available on the iPhone, all our charts:
- are randomly generated to prevent memory effects,
- support distance up to 8 meters (26 ft),
- support metric or imperial units for distance or acuity,
- provide a unique interactivity for maximum flexibility (and support device rotation),
- and most importantly, they follow the logMAR design recommended by the NATIONAL EYE INSTITUTE and the INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL OF OPHTHALMOLOGY.
CHECK OUT the full version "FAST ACUITY" that includes additional charts specifically designed for testing literate people (Sloan chart) and preschool children (Lea chart)!
