Application Description
Marimatech iPilot is a tool targeted primarily at assisting maritime pilots in navigating and maneuvering larger vessels.
The application may be operated in two modes, selected in the iPilot entry of the iPhone Settings:
- External data: Data is received from Marimatech E-Sea Fix GPS installed on the vessel. Optionally from a laptop for docking operation.
- iPhone data: Data from the iPhones own GPS is used. This mode should not be used for real piloting operations.
The current version supports the following functionality:
Overview screen:
- Own vessels position and motion data: Latitude, longitude, heading, course over ground, speed over ground, rate of turn, data source, and precision.
- Overview of other vessels nearby (using AIS) and their position relative to own vessel.
- Detailed view of each nearby vessel, showing e.g. name, MMSI, type, position, heading, speed, size, destination, ETA…
Docking screen:
- Bow and stern lateral speeds and vessel forward speed.
- Distances to fenders bow and stern.
- Vessel heading and rate of turn.
