iZoneTest
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
Lactate Threshold testing made easy.
Are you a run, cycling or triathlon training geek? Do you use a heart rate monitor for training? Developed by a marathon runner and triathlete, iZoneTest is an iPhone app for determining your heart rate training zones.
The app helps you perform a Lactate Threshold "Field Test" to determine your zones. A field test is a time trial during which time you give maximal effort. The app guides you through the test and computes your training LTHR and optionally your HR zones from the results. This approximates a "lab test" where your blood is sampled as activity intensity increases. The field test is a good predictor of your actual LTHR.
The app also has a heart rate training zone calculator based upon age and resting heart rate, with a tool to help you measure your resting heart rate.
The app is designed to give your sport specific HR training zones for running and cycling.
It needs either an Ant+ heart rate monitor and key (for iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S) or the Wahoo Blue HR strap for the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5.
The test takes 30 minutes, plus warm up time. At the end of the test you will get your LTHR with an in-app purchase option to get your full training zones -
Zone 1: Active Recovery
Zone 2: Aerobic Endurance
Zone 3: Muscular Endurance
Zone 4: Lactate Threshold
Zone 5a: Lactate Threshold
Zone 5b: Aerobic Capacity
Zone 5c: Anaerobic Capacity
With this data you can then use your HR monitor to ensure you are training at the appropriate intensity for your training phase and fitness.
Note: You require a BTLE or Ant+ heart rate sensor such as the Wahoo Fitness heart rate strap to use the heart rate monitoring features.
