Application Description
A great app allowing you to be notified when there are problems with one or more of your email servers.
Mail Server Alerts allows you to specify a valid email account along with the settings on how to check emails from that account (either by POP3 or IMAP).
Our server will send a unique test email to this account on a regular basis. Then our server will check that account to see if the test email was received.
A push notification will be sent to you if there is a problem (either the test email was delayed or not received at all).
This becomes a comprehensive test as it verifies that everything needed for email to be delivered and received are working.
Issues that can result in emails not being received can include:
- expired domain name registration
- issue with nameservers not resolving correctly
- problem with firewall allowing inbound mail connections
- mail server functionality
- issue with actual email account being tested
- issue with spam/junk mail filters
