Application Description
The app 'Martyr cities' takes you on a walk along the traces of 1914. In the first weeks of the Great War an army of hundreds of thousands of German soldiers marched through Belgium. They murdered civilians and looted houses. Three cities were heavily affected in Flanders: Aarschot, Leuven and Dendermonde.
The app can be used in those three Flemish martyr cities. You will receive a list of locations per city. Locations where something happened in 1914. You will receive a story by location, with past and present photos. You will see at a glance what has changed since.
In each city ten points form the main route: you will get extensive information there. There are also side roads: they give short information.
