Application Description
Match IT activities help survivors of stroke and brain injury to develop key skills while they have fun with friends and family.
Skills - this activity may help to develop:
• Visual processing skills such as scanning and object analysis
• Problem solving skills
• Executive functions
• Attention skills
• Language skills
How IT Works
Every version of Match IT encourages interaction between friends and family members. The aim is to complete each level faster than your previous best time.
At the start you will see two large picture cards at the top of the screen and several smaller versions of those cards underneath. The aim is to drag the smaller cards onto the matching larger cards (targets) in the shortest possible time. As you progress through the nine levels the activity becomes more challenging. As the levels increase we add distractions and movement.
There are several versions of Match IT. The first of these is Match IT Food; this name denotes that we are using a library of objects that always includes one item of food as a target object. It also means that the two target objects never begin with the same sound nor do they belong to the same semantic group i.e. you will never get two target food items.
Match IT provides constant encouragement by naming each object that you match correctly. You will also hear and see positive feedback when you have reached the end of each level.

• Familiar objects are presented and named
• There are 9 progressively challenging levels; you can choose to move forward or to repeat any level
•The objects are semantically and phonologically different from the target object i.e. they are from different categories and they begin with different sounds

• You can personalise your settings
About Neuro Hero
Neuro Hero is creating a range of low cost apps, short training videos and support tools for family carers. Working with therapists, we aim to assist the process of rehabilitation and tackle social isolation for people living with communication difficulties. Our low cost products aim to help individuals and families who are living with the consequences of conditions such as stroke and brain injury.
Neuro Hero was inspired when our CEO’s husband survived a stroke that left him with sever expresive aphasia. Everything we create comes from a genuine understanding of why these tools are important and a desire to support other families with affordable, effective tools to help them meet some of the challenges they face.
In May 2012 Neuro Hero recieved the prestigious Arthur Giuinness Fund award. In September 2012 we received the sought after Impact award from Social Entrepreneurs Ireland.
