Application Description
John has been working in the computer industry for over 30 years. He started his computer career with Data Processing in 1979 at Santa Monica Bank. He quickly became the utility person for the data processing department. Two years later, Santa Monica Bank built its own in-house check processing department where he was the daytime shift lead operator. Within another year he was the night shift supervisor of the Data Processing Center.
After 10 years with the Bank his boss and mentor advised him to go out and learn everything he could about the new “PC Computers”, as he believed (and was right) that personal computers would be the new technology to learn. John spent the next few years working for various companies learning different areas of the PC arena – Telecommunications, upgrades, installs and conversions, remote stand alone sites and networking systems.
John worked his way up the tech “ladder”, becoming lead computer tech support person for a Credit Union Software Company (250+ Credit Union locations). John also was their Advanced Computer Operations Trainer. In 1999, he was hired as the Lead Desktop Support Technician at the West Los Angeles VA. He was the only helpdesk technician for over 2500 users. This was a heavy work load, spending 8-10 hours a day on the phones non-stop. This experience taught him the importance of quick troubleshooting skills and patience as a prerequisite for his new business.
It has been John’s goal since being employed at Santa Monica Bank to own his own company. He started Millennium Computer Services in late 1997. Gradually over time He has been able to grow this business to over 300 clients consisting of small to medium sized businesses and the home user. The Company has grown on word of mouth alone which is a testament to his dedication to quality customer service.
