One Finger Guitar
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
Play guitar on the iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch with one finger. Even if you are not musically inclined, you will be tapping out great sounding guitar tunes in no time. One-Finger-Guitar includes a large selection of guitar chords played, as they would be if strummed on a steel string acoustic guitar. Each tap of a button plays a strummed chord.
I love to hear the guitar, but have never had the talent or patience to learn to play. I designed One-Finger-Guitar with that in mind. It’s simple, and you don’t have to be a musician to play. Simply find guitar chord music for the songs you want to play, set the buttons with the appropriate chords and tempo, and start taping out your favorite tunes. If you don’t know what chord music is don’t worry, it’s simple and the Web is full of great sites that will have your favorite tunes. Visit the program Web site for more information.
There are some limitations. You can’t finger pick; I would not know how to do that anyway. One-Finger-Guitar works especially well for songs played as arpeggio (don't worry, for us non musicians that just means played slow, one string at time). There are 51 of the most often used chords that can be played at five different tempos. It works great for pop, country, and folk style music.
If you are an accomplished musician this may seem overly simplified. Remember, One-Finger-Guitar was designed ease of use. If you are an accomplished musician and decide to give it a try you will probably find ways to use it that were never really planned. Some very interesting effects can be achieved when used as an input device for Garage Band or similar applications.
One-Finger-Guitar comes preloaded with chord sets suitable for several popular folk and pop tunes. Visit the One-Finger-Guitar Web site for links to several of popular Web sites that contain lots of good guitar chord music.
The iPhone is a great platform for this type instrument, but the built in speaker does not really do justice to the full sound of One-Finger-Guitar. We recommend you start out with your earphones or an external speaker.
One-Finger-Guitar has a built-in help file that explains all the functions including how to load and save chord sets of your favorite songs.
KEY FEATURES:
* Guitar chords include the major, minor and dominant 7th chords in all keys
* Play at five different tempos
* Save and recall up to 50 different chord sets by name
* Volume control via iPhone external volume switch
* Both down and up strumming.
TIPS FOR USE:
* You can set the buttons in the order the chords are played to make it easier to get started.
* If there are chords that might be played at different tempos you can set buttons to the same chord at different tempos.
* Chord names on the buttons are formatted with chord name followed by the tempo. i.e. Am_90 is A minor suitable to be played at approximately 90 beats per minute. Flats are designated by the "b" following the chord letter, sharps use the "#" following the chord letter, and 7th chords use a "7" following the letter.
* If a song you want to play calls for a chord that is not included in One-Finger-Guitar, experiment with other chords. You may also find a variation for that songs chord listing.
