With this calculator you can check out the effective R-value and U-value for a set of materials. This is used to work out the needed amount of insulating material to meet energy efficiency regulations for floors, ceilings or walls. Useful for a builder, architect, designer or home owner looking to improve energy efficiency and so to save money. Also useful for quickly comparing the energy efficiencies of different layers.

You can select your material from a library for each layer. Proposed values can be changed freely too. With the thickness of the material the program calculates the R-value and U-value for your wall, ceiling or floor!
