ScrabboChecker English
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
Do you find it annoying when your Scrabble-opponent takes a long time before playing a word of witch you think 'is that ok?'?
With this App you can check whether a word can be played during a Scrabble-game. If a word is not allowed this App will (in some cases) give a few hints, just enough for a player to get started but not so much as to spoil the game.
This is the only App you can 'legally' use during a Scrabble-game. It prevents disagreements about whether a word is allowed to play or not and the limited 'hint-function' will speed up gameplay.
If you enter a single letter, all allowed 2-and 3-letter words containing that letter are shown. For the letters Q and X all allowed 4-letter words are shown as well.
The database that is used by this App contains three wordlist that you can choose from:
- TWL06 is a list of 178.691 words.
Wikipedia: "Official Tournament and Club Word List or Tournament Word List, referred to as OTaCWL, OWL, or TWL, is the official word authority for tournament Scrabble in the USA, Canada and Thailand. It is based on the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary (OSPD) with modifications to make it more suitable for tournament play. Its British counterpart is Chambers Official Scrabble Words, and the combination of the two word lists is known as SOWPODS."
- SOWPODS is a list of 267.751 words.
If you have paid attention you should know now what that is.
- CSW2012 is a list of 270.163 words.
The official WESPA word list (CSW2012) came into force internationally on 1 January 2012.
- Enable is a list of 172.803 words.
It is an acronym for "Enhanced North American Benchmark Lexicon". It has become a de facto standard, particularly for online word games, and is released into the public domain by its compiler, Alan Beale.
In order to process this data with high speed, the database and the search-engine are online. This means that to use this App your device needs a connection with internet.
