Application Description
SpectraSound is a realtime tool for displaying the sound signal from the iPhone microphone, its spectrum with automatic detection of its frequency peaks and it include also a continuous display of the sonogram
usage:
- tap on the signal window (top half screen in portrait) to pause/resume the capture
- change the timebase(top of the signal view) to set the duration displayed in the signal view
- Modify the gain to setup a multiplication factor on the captured signal. Note: it affects the FFT as well
The FFT is displayed (about 30 fps) in the bottom half part of the screen (in portrait only). It features an automatic detection of the obvious peaks.
By tapping on the translucent button on the right of the FFT view, a settings window appears. It controls the FFT bandwidth, the scaling mode, the window function applied to the signal before performing the FFT and the colors used for the signal and the FFT.
Behind the FFT a sonogram scrolls continuously.
All those settings are persistent across launches of SpectraSound.
