Spherecal: Where Will You Be?
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
You want to do something in the next couple weeks, days, or hours but not sure what and don’t really want to commit till you know your options? No way, me too! Occasionally you DO know what that something is and you can invite the rest of us. But for the majority, come to Spherecal to SEE WHERE YOUR FRIENDS WILL BE.
Use Spherecal to create an original interactive invitation in 30 seconds on a native app. Distribute it to any device anyway you want. Then discover fun things to do at the LAST MINUTE that have been curated by you and your friends!
Wait… wait, do I need to convince all my friends to sign up for this? Not all my friends have iPhones so they can’t get it… Well, when you create an event, we actually make you your own INTERACTIVE WEBPAGE, featuring your invitation with all the relevant details organized for your guests. You can send that link to anyone you want. So, to share your own events nobody needs to have the app but you.
You are limited to 2 WEEKS. What about events that need to be planned further out? Spherecal is a forum and a marketplace to share where you’ll be and what you’ll do at the last minute. Extending last minute to apply to 2 weeks is a tad aggressive, but 2 weeks is the Goldilocks window for event discovery and these types of events are highly inefficient when organized over email and SMS.
Your feed is CHRONOLOGICAL so the events that are about to happen work their way to the top. Are you In? Swipe it right. Thinking you want to keep your options open, double-tap to Star it. Don’t care? Remove it… or you could just scroll into the future. In and Star will add the events to your personal 2 week calendar for your friends to see and you to manage.
SHARING vs. INVITING… the difference is subtle, but important. I know you’re familiar with Inviting, but Sharing an event with someone is saying, “hey, you might like this” or a more casual way of saying, “I’m doing this, no pressure, but come if you want.”
Why do we FRIEND instead of FOLLOW? Well, where you’ll be in the future is pretty sensitive info. We want everyone to be SAFE, which is why we have tons of ways for you to limit who can see the events you’re sharing. We advise you to friend only people you actually know and trust and instead join the Spheres of those you just met.
+Spheres – There are 3 of them: +PUBLIC, +PRIVATE, and +PERSONAL. These are groups you can decide to join based on your friends and interests. They will help you find cool things to do. Share an event with as many spheres as you want and the event will show up in their members’ feeds. Create and join them, you can always delete or leave:
+Public: Be Loud! Anyone can join, but you make the call on whether an event gets shared with your audience. Taste-makers, celebrities, bands, bars, flash-mobs…
+Private: Curate a community. You’re the gatekeeper. It’s your call who gets in, but after that anyone can share events with the community… well you can always kick people out too. Sports teams, knitting clubs, manicure gaggles, hiking enthusiasts, the list goes on.
+Personal: Keep it tight! Only those you invite to join know this sphere even exists. You wouldn’t share your group texts with the world, but unlike group texts you can actually add and remove members at any time.
What’s with the + symbol before the Spheres? Well, there is also a ! or BANG in front of the event names and an @ in front of usernames. They will make it easier to find, tag and share events, spheres, and users, try it out!
PUBLIC vs. PRIVATE… events such as a beach party or a concert are more-the-merrier so you might make those events Public, but unless you want Project X to happen at your house, be careful which you select because if the event is public, anyone can invite anyone else.
