The Genetics Counselling App is a visual, interactive and educational tool for Genetic Counsellors/Practitioners, Geneticists, General Practitioners, related healthcare professionals and GCSE to Post graduate students. The Genetic Counselling App can be used during patient consultation to explain various complex genetics concepts and provide additional information as a teaching tool.
The Genetics Counselling App gives a visual explanation of chromosomes from the body to gene level. The app highlights the most common types of mendelian inheritance through a number of animations which the user controls depending on the scenario they are trying to emulate. Some of these include:-

The app also explains some common genetics tests carried out in modern age. Traditionally a static bidder is used for patient and practitioner consultations, which proves to be difficult to understand. The app will aid during this process by using animations which can be controlled by the user.
The app provide a good and modern way to teach and revise genetic basics and also the less common genetics conditions.

The App has been developed by the e-Learning Unit, St George’s University of London in collaboration with Sahar Mansour, Glen Brice, Niki Salt, Karen Marks, Uruj Anjum and Sam McInerney.
