Application Description
Get all your Toronto Star news in a great, readable format specially optimized for the iPad! Use simple tap and swipe motions to read stories from the journalists you trust. Share the news via Facebook, Twitter or email. You’ll also enjoy world-class multi-media including video and photo galleries.
Sections include:
- Latest news from Toronto, Canada and the world, with separate section on GTA only
- Latest Sports stories
- Latest Business stories
- Living, Entertainment, and Travel stories
- Opinion from Toronto Star columnists
- Horoscopes
- Great photos and videos
Navigation
Getting to the Section you want – On the front page, tap on section you want (News, GTA, Sports etc.).
Moving from Section to Section – You can either use the Section drop-down scroll-bar to jump from section to section, or you can browse through all the content in one section to move to the following section.
Reading stories – Tap on an article on the article summary page to open the article view. Swipe to the left to move from page to page inside an article. All external links clicked will open up in a web-view within the app, and so there is no jumping out to Safari. The web-view also has a close button so that you can return to where you left from. The app shows the most recent 30 stories for each section.
Photos, photo-galleries and videos – Tap on a photo, photo-gallery (special icon with multiple squares indicates photo-galleries) or video (special ‘play’ icon indicates video) to view.
Make font size bigger or smaller by tapping the “A” icon in the lower right corner of article pages
Share articles via Facebook, Twitter or email by tapping the Share icon in the lower right corner of article pages
What’s New in This Release?
Version 1.0 of thestar iPad has been designed from scratch to offer you a great iPad experience. We support iOS 4.3 and up.
This version of the app doesn’t include support for offline browsing. That is something we are working on.
We’re aiming to make our app as useful as possible, so after you’ve explored thestar.com iPad, if you have suggestions, please use the link inside the app itself to send us feedback email. Thanks for being part of the Star community!
