How many times have you rushed to a bus stop only to discover that the bus was running late or that an on-time bus failed to stop due to passenger capacity limitations; or that you just missed your bus and wished to know the exact arrival time of the next bus in order to keep an important appointment?
Thanks to a new iPhone app, 'TxTMyBus,' you can now easily determine accurate, real-time bus arrivals for all buses and stops on the Sydney network.
TxTMyBus automatically pinpoints your location via GPS and graphically maps the nearest bus stops to you. Once you arrive at a stop you can SMS 0488 TXTBUS from the app. The TXTBUS service provided by Transport NSW will respond with a text message informing you of all timetable information and real-time bus arrivals for your stop.
TxT My Bus is also Socialize Enabled. This allows you to socialise with friends and fellow bus commuters. You can leave comments on each bus stop and share them into Facebook, email or SMS. You can share comments on each bus stop for other bus commuters to read.
This free version of 'TxTMyBus' is a very handy app for all bus commuters. However, a Pro version with added features, like bookmarking your regular stops for easier and quicker access, is also available for a moderate fee. The Pro version also automatically stores your most recent stops for speedier results.
You can easily upgrade to the Pro version at any time from within the app. Once you begin using the app you will wonder how you ever managed without it.
The messages are being sent as a normal SMS message to the NSW Transit Bus Service. So they're being charged as a normal SMS charge as per your phone plan. The NSW TXTBUS service itself is provided for free by the NSW Transport service.
