There is is a "Side switch" on the side of the iPad 2 above the volume button, you will find it is in the locked position which means it is set to mute, unlock it and the app should work normally (you may need to power off and restart your iPad 2) We would recommend you switch the "Use Side Switch to" to "Lock orientation" rather than "mute" in the General settings of the iPad 2.
