Up North! Grand Traverse
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
★ A Fresh Look at the Best Things Up North ★
There’s no better place to vacation in Michigan. It’s so beautiful here that people out east call Cape Cod the Grand Traverse of Massachusetts. Here in Northwest Michigan you will find miles upon miles of sandy beach, green hills flush with orchards and vineyards, and tucked in between some of the best wineries you will find anywhere.
Some people come to get in tune with the rhythms of nature. Others come to drink in Michigan's wine country, and others come to eat their fill at tables prepared by the country’s best chefs, supplied with an abundance of local produce. And some just come to enjoy a festival and lose themselves in the city’s culture.
This app covers it all – bed & breakfasts, quiet lakeside inns, excellent campgrounds; where to eat and how much you'll spend; farm markets, specialty foods, and great local snacks; trails for hiking and biking; rivers for fishing and paddling; beaches for sunning and swimming. Pull up wineries on the map and find the best route for a personalized wine tour. Need a local dinner recommendation? It’s as close as your fingertips.
For less than you would spend on a local map, this travel app has close to 200 entries and 500 photos and never goes out of date (upgrades are free)!
★ About the Author ★
A Michigan native, Matt Forster has camped, hiked, canoed, biked, swum, antiqued, art galleried, toured, or simply explored nearly every corner of Michigan. Spending childhood summers Up North on Grand Traverse Bay—hiking miles of shoreline with an ever-changing gang of siblings and cousins, sailing across the deep blue water, or simply laying out at night watching the chance meteor shower—ranks among his fondest memories.
Though he's traveled wide in adulthood, for a time calling New England and later the Rockies home, the bay still holds the biggest attraction. Surrounded by dramatic landscapes and small town friendliness, a region rich with agricultural bounty, Grand Traverse goes all in with the seasons and holds nothing back.
Matt is the author of Best Tent Camping Michigan, Backroads & Byways of Michigan, and Colorado: An Explorer's Guide. He is currently digging deep into the history books to discover Michigan as it was known when Henry Rowe Schoolcraft took part in the Lewis Cass Expedition of 1820.
