Application Description

The Federal Boating requirements gives you the information you need to ensure the safety of your vessel and passengers while on the water. It also provides you the peace of mind of knowing that you have the required items in case law enforcement or the Coast Guard boards you. The application is based on the current requirements required by “Federal Safety Requirements for Recreational Boaters” as well as the Vessel Safety Check criteria used by the United Sates Coast Guard Auxiliary and the United States Power Squadron.
The application will walk you through the features you have on your boat as well as your boating locations and provide you with the required items for your specific vessel. Furthermore, it will provide you with a list of optional items and recommended items from West Marine that you may wish to purchase in order to meet the requirements. Other features include:
1.A West Marine “Locater” based on your location, city, or zip code;
2.A Vessel Examiner finder for those wish to have the vessel checked by an examiner and receive the Vessel Safety Check Seal;
3.Detailed information about the requirements for your vessel;
4.The ability to save or e-mail the list of needed items for future reference.
Note: This application is for reference only and should not replace a Vessel Safety Check by a qualified Vessel Examiner provided by the United Sates Power Squadron or Coast Guard Auxiliary.

To use this application simply press “Start Safety Check”
1.Select the items that you have on your boat at this time.
2.You can save the list or see optional items.
Optional items are recommended but not required to meet the Federal Requirements.
1.Place a check mark in the items that you do not have on your vessel if you would like them added to your list.
West Marine Recommended Items provide you with a few suggestions that will meet the federal Boating requirements that you need,
1.Place a check mark on the items that you would like added to your saved or e-mailed list. This will allow you to take the items to a West Marine store to ensure your getting the items needed.
E-mail: The list of needed items can be mailed to any e-maim list you prefer.
Save List: The saved is stored in your iPhone, iPod or iPad until you perform the next Safety Check. At that point the previous saved list will be erased.
