The Westminster Catechism, written in the mid 17th century by the Westminster Assembly of Divines, is still considered today to be the standard of faith documents for many Christian believers.

A "catechism" is a document written in question/answer format, used primarily for memorization. The Shorter Catechism is composed of 107 questions and answers, divided into six categories. It is intended to be read and/or memorized straight through, although any cursory reading will be beneficial to the reader.

While these documents were never intended to replace or presuppose the Scriptures, they help the reader to increase in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
