The Wireless Mobile Utility creates two-way wireless connections between Nikon cameras and iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. Pictures taken with the camera can be downloaded to the iOS device, and the camera can be controlled remotely, with the iOS device displaying the view through the camera lens. The photo sharing feature makes it easy to upload pictures to social networking sites or attach them to e-mail messages.

•Overview
Using the Wireless Mobile Utility (the “app”), iOS devices can connect to cameras equipped with built-in wireless or Nikon’s wireless mobile adapter accessory, with no need for a wireless LAN router or access point. The app can be used to download high-quality images from the camera memory card to the camera roll on the iOS device, share pictures using iOS photo sharing, and take pictures remotely while the view through the lens is displayed on the iOS device.


•Principal Features
-Connections can easily be established with the iOS device and cameras equipped with built-in wireless or a wireless mobile adapter.
-The camera clock can be automatically synchronized with the iOS device.
-Pictures can be downloaded from the camera to the iOS device camera roll.
-The iOS device can be used to view the pictures on the camera memory card and add them to the iOS device camera roll.
-The file-sharing features on the iOS device can be used to pass downloaded pictures to other apps for easy sharing.
- The view through the lens can be previewed on, and the shutter released from, the iOS device. This feature is not available with Nikon 1 or COOLPIX cameras.
-A two-second self-timer is available.
-The iOS device can control optical zoom on COOLPIX cameras.

•Cautions
-The app can only be used with cameras equipped with built-in wireless or a WU-1a/WU-1b wireless mobile adapter (S800c excluded).
-Movies can not be recorded remotely.
-Movies can not be downloaded from the camera to the iOS device.
-When a Motion Snapshot recorded with a Nikon 1 camera is downloaded to the iOS device, only the photograph will be transferred. Nikon 1 cameras can not be used to download photos as they are taken.
-Ad hoc and Wi-Fi Direct wireless LAN modes are not supported.
-Depending on network and ambient conditions, frame delay and lag may occur during live view.
-In accord with wireless regulations, the wireless mobile adapter can be used only at a maximum range of approximately 10 m to 15 m (33 ft. to 49 ft.). Range may be affected by obstacles and signal conditions.
