This app shows nearly 10,000 photographs from the Carol M. Highsmith Archive at the Library of Congress. There are four groups of photos: Carol's Favorite 100, Alabama (about 4,000 photographs), Washington, D. C. (about 3,000), and most of the other states (about 2,500).

An internet connection is required.

Carol M. Highsmith has been photographing for over 30 years and has had work featured in over 50 hardback coffee-table books. Starting in 1992 she began donating photographs to the Library of Congress, free of copyright.

Highsmith plans to add photographs from all 50 states, a project she'll pursue for the next 16 years, three states a year, over 2000 images per state.
