iWavit aIR
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
The iWavit aIR app turns your iPhone/iPod touch into an IR Remote for the controlling Apple devices.
This app requires the iWavit Accessory for the iPhone, iPad & iPod touch (see http://www.iwavit.com).
FEATURES:
This remote is very similar in functionality to a regular Apple IR remote. You will be able to adjust volume, navigate Front Row, exit to the Menu, and Pause and Play content.
Simply plug the iWavit attachment into the iPhone, and press the screen buttons to send IR commands from the iWavit to any Apple device.
There are a few notable benefit of iWavit Virtual Remotes over a traditional remotes:
1. Buttons are large and easy to hit,
2. Buttons are easily seen in the dark, so no need to turn on the lights in the room just to adjust the volume, and
3. You can have any number of virtual remotes without adding to the clutter in your living room.
Under normal operation this app makes the iPhone act like a normal IR remote where IR light is emitted out the front of the iWavit Attachment. When in this normal operating mode, the iWavit USB dongle and IR Lightbar are not required, at all.
However, there is an additional feature that we have added to this app: It is possible to use the iWavit IR Lightbar as a "Wireless IR Extender". Set up is easy. You just hook the iWavit USB dongle (with IR Lightbar) into ANY powered USB socket. This can be a PC/Mac that is turned on, or it can be the back of a TV, or it can be into a USB wall adaptor or USB charger. Any USB socket with power will do. The iWavit USB dongle will automatically configure itself to act like a Wireless IR Extender.
On the iWavit aIR app you can now choose to have all IR signals blasted from the IR Lightbar instead of the iPhone. You do this by tapping the icon in the lower right corner and selecting "Blast from IR Lightbar". We should point out that the IR Lightbar is a very powerful IR blaster with 6 LEDs. This means that the Mac does not even have to be in direct line-of-sight to the IR Lightbar because the Lightbar will light up the room with invisible IR signals when it blasts. So now you will be able to be more than 100ft away from your Apple device and you will still be able to control it as long as the IR Lightbar is within range of the Mac. This also means your Mac can be hidden away inside of a cabinet or in a downstairs room, provided 1. the USB dongle and IR Lightbar are near the Mac, and 2. the iWavit USB dongle and iWavit Attachment are within RF range of about 100ft.
Finally, it should be noted that there is another iWavit app called iWavit Apmote which controls Apple devices by communicating directly via RF signals to the iWavit USB dongle plugged into the Apple device, and makes no use of the IR signals. See the App Store for more details.
Pressing the HOME button in the lower left of the front screen will take you to the app called iWavit Flow, if it is installed. This app provides a convenient cover-flow way to navigate between iWavit apps.
