iWavit Comcst
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
This app requires a "Made for iPhone" iWavit iPhone Accessory in order for it to work. See www.iwavit.com for more details.
The "iWavit for Comcast" app turns the iPhone (or iPad or iPod touch) into an IR Remote for controlling certain Comcast Motorolla Digital CableTV boxes.
Insert the iWavit attachment into the iPhone/iPod touch and you will hear a sound indicating that the iWavit has paired successfully with the iPhone. Now you are ready to control your Comcast Motorolla Digital Cablebox.
The layout of the buttons is similar to the remote that ships with Comcast cable box. The buttons are large and easy to hit and to see in the dark. Scroll left-right between 4 screens to get to other buttons.
There are a few notable benefit of iWavit Virtual Remotes over a traditional remotes:
1. Buttons are large and easy to hit,
2. Buttons are easily seen in the dark, so no need to turn on the lights in the room just to adjust the volume, and
3. You can have any number of virtual remotes without adding to the clutter in your living room.
4. This app support the iWavit "Wireless IR Extender" feature which can extend your range to over 100 ft (see below).
When you press the buttons on the iWavit Comcast screen, IR signals will be emitted from the front of the iWavit. You will be able to use this virtual remote app much as you would a regular Comcast IR remote. Under normal you would only need to use the "Made for iPhone" iWavit Attachment which plug into the iPhone, and the iWavit USB dongle and IR Lightbar are not required, at all.
However, there is an additional feature that we have added to this app: It is possible to use the iWavit IR Lightbar as a "Wireless IR Extender". Set up is easy. You just hook the iWavit USB dongle (with IR Lightbar) into ANY powered USB socket. This can be a PC/Mac that is turned on, or it can be the back of a TV, or it can be into a USB wall adaptor or USB charger. Any USB socket with power will do. The iWavit USB dongle will automatically configure itself to act like a Wireless IR Extender.
On the iWavit Comcast app you can now choose to have all IR signals blasted from the IR Lightbar instead of the iPhone. You do this by tapping the icon in the lower right corner and selecting "Blast from IR Lightbar".
We should point out that the IR lightbar is a very powerful IR blaster with 6 LEDs. This means that the Comcast Cablebox does not even have to be in direct line of sight to the IR Lightbar because the Lightbar will light up the room with invisible IR signals when it blasts. So now you will be able to be sit on your porch and still be able to control it as long as the IR Lightbar is within optical range of the Comcast cablebox. This also means your Cablebox can be hidden away inside of a cabinet or in a downstairs room, provided 1. the USB dongle and IR Lightbar are near the Cable Box, and 2. the iWavit USB dongle and iWavit Attachment are within RF range of about 100ft.
Pressing the HOME button in the lower left of the front screen will take you to the app called iWavit Flow, if it is installed. This app provides a convenient cover-flow way to navigate between iWavit apps.
The "iWavit for Comcast" app is part of a family of iWavit Virtual Remotes for Major-Brand electronic devices. For those who wish to create their own custom Remote Controls, we have created the Ultimate Remote Control app called Tabula Rasa. With this app you can create remotes, download remotes, upload remotes to share them, search our limited IR database or learn IR codes directly from your old IR remotes. You can even create macros for embedding multiple functions inside a single button. You can also use the app to control PCs/Macs using USB Keyboard strokes or through the patented DirectPointing air-mouse technology built into the iWavit.
