Jenolan Caves Tour - Self Guided Nettle Cave - Acoustiguide Smartour
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
A former guided tourist cave, the Nettle was closed for 75 years from 1931. It has now been redeveloped with pathways, rails and a modern lighting system, before being reopened in its current form in 2006. It is unique amongst the tours offered at Jenolan, with certain formations and views that can be seen in no other cave.
There are 18 stops on this self-guided tour, which explores the geology and geomorphology of the Jenolan area, the cultural heritage and history, as well as the Dream Time creation stories of the local Aboriginal people. There are additional layers of information available, for those who want to gain a richer understanding of Jenolan’s fascinating history and science.
Entry to the cave is complimentary with the purchase of any Jenolan Pass. Once you have purchased your pass, staff will explain the procedure for accessing the Nettle Cave. The tour is clearly signposted, and each commentary point is also indicated by numbered markers along the way.
Visitors should allow around an hour for this experience, which is open from 9am to 5pm every day of the year.
