About the Exhibition
From James Cook’s Endeavour journal to Edward Koiki Mabo’s diaries and maps, from a letter by Jane Austen to a 12th-century Buddhist scripture, the Treasures Gallery showcases some of the most precious items held by the National Library of Australia.

Early maps and atlases, books, manuscripts, paintings, drawings, photographs and objects all feature in the gallery. Come face to face with some of Australia’s greatest stories in Terra Australis to Australia and see highlights from the Library’s international collections in NLA to Z.

The Treasures Gallery is the realisation of years of research, planning and fundraising, and the Library greatly appreciates the generosity of the donors and sponsors who have made the construction of the gallery possible.
